Eliminating Kruft

Today I’m removing or archiving cruft (anything that is left over, redundant and getting in the way) from my filing systems, as well as further structuring ongoing processes around this. Like barnacles on the hull of a boat, I feel like my filing system cruft is slowing me down.

This is related to my previous post about proactively reviewing security. Access to accounts I no longer use is cruft. Old project files and notes related to projects I will almost certainly never work on again. What do you consider cruft, and do you put time into removing it, or do you just tuck it away and it still has a silent weight to it?
